Dearest Shamala Hamalans,
The view out of my hotel window is really something. Gorgeous views of lower Manhattan including the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building. Last night I took these long-exposure photos of the skyline- blurs and smears of city light. Wanted to share them with you:

I moved to NYC when I was 18 years old. I took night classes so I could graduate high school early, got a few hundred dollars from family members for graduation, and left for the big apple.
I didn’t last very long. I had no idea who I was and made some dumb choices. Being here again and staring out over this city, imagining my teen-age self here over 30 years ago. So much has changed in the world. So much has changed within me.
If you could go back and say something to your younger self, what would you say?
Feel free to attach a photo of your younger self if you want, (but you don’t have to.) The bigger the hair the better.

Here’s this week’s Call Kevin:
Last week I asked you to gift yourself flowers and to share a photo. Lot’s of you did it! Here’s a few of them:

I hope you all have a nice week. If you feel over whelmed, take a big breath. Maybe unplug as much as you can. Watch a favorite movie or TV show (I’ve been on the biggest Kitchen Nightmares kick. I love makeover shows. I love watching things that seem to be falling apart get better.)
I’d also love to start sharing a weekly recipe. If you have one please send it, ideally with a photo. I’ll make a chat in substack for my substack subscribers or you can reply to the email.)
Have a great week
-KJT

Those photos were amazing. If I could say anything to my younger self, I would pull that little freckle faced, people pleasing, anxious girl aside and tell her to pursue the singing, dancing, and acting she always wanted to, because it's what made her light up and gave her the neck tickles, and that feeling never goes away. I would tell her that she IS very smart, that she CAN do great things, and that her extremely controlling mother won't rule her forever. I'd make her promise she was going to rebel, even a little bit, so that her life would end up being her own and to never give up. :)
If I could talk to my younger self, I'd tell her to stop being a people-pleaser! You don't have to be who your parents want you to be. Go out and discover who YOU are!
